Blacksite Gel Ball - paintball in Brisbane

From $70pp

Rental entry covers a blaster, magazine, full face mask and unlimited gels, so newcomers need nothing but enclosed shoes.

Getting Paintball and Laser Tag Right

Inside a shed on Johnson Road, Blacksite Gel Ball has built a small town to fight through, with houses, markets, shops and restaurants. Players use blasters firing soft gel beads instead of paint, and the whole game stays indoors.

How a Hillcrest gel ball session runs:

Casual sessions last three hours, and staff sort everyone into teams so a group plays together.
Tactical sessions keep each squad together for objective rounds with breachable doors and hidden passages.
The rental pack covers entry, a blaster and magazine, unlimited gels and a full face mask, from $70 per person.
Play is semi-auto only, every blaster is checked against a 330 FPS limit, and face protection is compulsory.
The layout changes regularly, so a group that comes back plays a different town.

Players must be 12 or older, which makes it a fit for teen birthdays and adult groups rather than young kids.

Private sessions for parties, team-building days and groups of friends are arranged by enquiry.
Players with their own kit can buy general entry instead of the rental pack.
Drinks are sold on site for players between rounds.
A lounge with sofas gives parents and spectators somewhere to wait.

Why the town layout matters

Streets, shopfronts and doorways make for close-range fights rather than long open-field shots.
Breachable doors and hidden passages reward teams that talk and plan their moves.
Changing missions in tactical sessions keep a squad working toward set objectives.
Being indoors, the games go ahead in summer storms and heat.
