How Bowling Alleys Work

Thunderbowl Calamvale is a six-lane alley on the Calamvale Hotel site on Compton Road. It is a compact set-up, which suits a party that wants its own corner rather than a huge floor.

Reasons groups book the Compton Road alley:

Each lane has booth seating and Neoverse scoring, so a group sits together between bowls.
Bumpers lift for a single player, letting small children and grandparents share a game.
Darts boards, a few pool tables and arcade machines share the floor with the lanes.
Party packages start from $55 per person and include a host, food and arcade tickets.
Bookings can be as small as three guests, with 48 hours' notice.

The alley stays open late on Friday and Saturday nights. Because the alley is part of a licensed hotel, children and teens must stay with a parent or guardian.

Each package is priced per guest and covers bowling, food, drinks, arcade tickets, a host and table decorations.
Kids' and teen versions run alongside the adult packages.
Adult bookings cover 18ths, 21sts, engagement parties, hens and bucks nights and team nights.
Christmas functions use the hotel's kitchen and bar behind the alley.

Fitting a bigger Calamvale crowd

With six lanes, a larger party may want to book well ahead to hold enough of them.
Extra function space elsewhere in the hotel can take overflow guests.
Guests who finish early can drift to darts, pool or the arcade.
Tickets from the arcade are swapped at the prize wall on the way out.
