Hold the formal at Ipswich Turf Club, a Bundamba racecourse with private lounges and an outdoor terrace for up to 500 guests.

Choosing the Right School Formal Venue

Bundamba's racecourse, home of the Ipswich Cup, hires its grandstand lounges and events centre to schools. The club pitches the space at formals and gala dinners.

Ipswich Turf Club spaces for a formal:

Whole events centre: past 200 at tables for a big graduating class.
Trackside Lounge: overlooks the parade ring and winning post, for 120 seated.
Eye Liner Lounge: a private grandstand room for 120 seated, with lift access.
A separate room off the Eye Liner Lounge suits hosts changing or storing gear.
Free parking on site for parents and buses.

The functions team helps shape menus, theming and timing. The Trackside Lounge has easy wheelchair access and an air-conditioned indoor room.

Out on the upper terrace, covered seats face a lawn sloping to the track.
The terrazzo staircase up to grandstand level makes an arrival shot.
The parade ring sits beside the Trackside Lounge.
Ask the team about theming the room.

Picking a Turf Club room

Use the events centre for a large school.
Use a single lounge for a cohort of around 120.
Check race-day dates, as the club runs around 46 meetings a year.
A racing museum is also on site.
