Clear allSince 1907 bowlers have played on Ballantyne Street, where Thornbury Bowls Club runs as a not-for-profit club. Members still play pennant and social games, but the greens are opened for barefoot afternoons and the clubhouse for birthdays, weddings, gigs and work functions. Options for a group on the greens:
Up top the surface is synthetic and playable through every season; down below it is Tifdwarf Bermuda grass. Lights over both mean an evening booking is no problem.

Group rink bookings start from $165 per group and cover a two- or three-hour slot, bowls included.
There is one of each: synthetic on the upper level, Tifdwarf grass on the lower one, and both are lit.
Yes – book the club's full PA, which comes with a sound engineer, for live music or a DJ. A playlist through the house speakers covers quieter parties.
Bowl barefoot or in flat runners – other shoes stay off the greens.
