About Cherished Moments Celebrated
Cherished Moments Celebrated is the celebrancy business of Sharon Osman, an authorised civil marriage celebrant based in Narre Warren North in Melbourne's south-east. She has spent more than a decade marrying couples across Melbourne and has officiated hundreds of ceremonies, drawing on a background in public speaking and relationship coaching. Sharon writes personalised ceremonies around each couple's story – how they met, what they value and where they are heading. Couples can write their own vows with her guidance or have her draft them, and the ceremony can include optional rituals such as exchanging garlands, lighting a unity candle, a rose or wine ceremony, or handfasting. She is sought out for multicultural and interfaith weddings and has married Indian, Sri Lankan, Thai, Filipino, Vietnamese, Chinese and European couples, alongside same-sex weddings, elopements and surprise ceremonies. She takes care of the legal side from start to finish: lodging the Notice of Intended Marriage, which must reach the celebrant at least a month before the wedding, making sure the required legal wording is included, and applying for the official certificate afterwards. Every ceremony comes with a PA system. For couples who want something simple, Sharon offers legal-only registrations at her home office with just witnesses, and has garden space for small groups of around 10 to 15 guests. Does Sharon handle the legal paperwork?
Yes. She lodges the Notice of Intended Marriage, makes sure every legal requirement is met in the ceremony and applies for your official marriage certificate once you are married.
When does the Notice of Intended Marriage need to be lodged?
The NOIM has to reach Sharon at least one month and one day ahead of the ceremony, and it can be lodged up to 18 months before the wedding date.
Can we have a small, legal-only wedding?
Yes. Sharon offers registry-style legal marriages at her home office with only the couple and two witnesses present, and has garden space for intimate groups of about 10 to 15.
Does Sharon perform multicultural and same-sex weddings?
Yes. She has married couples from many cultures and faiths, can weave in traditional rituals such as a garland exchange, and conducts same-sex weddings, elopements and surprise ceremonies.
