About Mud 2 Mug and More
Mud 2 Mug and More is a pottery studio on Wynnum Road in Morningside, on Brisbane's southside, run by owners Karina Henwood and Michael Manning. Groups come here to decorate ready-made ceramics or to shape their own pieces from clay. Every tool, paint and glaze is supplied, and the studio has a dedicated private event area with room for up to 60 guests. Private bookings come in two styles, and painting groups start at nine guests. A pottery painting party runs for two to three hours: the group pays a workshop fee, then each guest chooses a piece to decorate, priced from about $30 to $80 with glazing and firing included. A pottery making party takes around two hours, with an instructor guiding everyone through forming a piece, and making and painting can be combined in the one class. The studio pitches its events at birthdays for any age, wholesome hens parties, workplace get-togethers and team-building days. The Funky Mug Canteen can put together grazing platters, and guests may also bring their own drinks and nibbles. Finished pieces are glazed and fired by the team and ready to collect three to four weeks later, safe for food and water, so send an enquiry to book a date.

Frequently asked questions
How many guests can a private pottery party take?
Private painting bookings are for groups of nine or more, and the Morningside studio can host up to 60 people. For a large group, the studio suggests booking around a month ahead to secure your date.
How is a pottery painting party priced?
The group pays a workshop fee, then each guest picks and pays for their own piece on the day. Pieces run from about $30 to $80 (a mug is around $40), covering paint, glazing and firing. Send an enquiry for the workshop fee.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Yes, BYO drinks and snacks are welcome. The on-site Funky Mug Canteen also offers grazing platters for events, with cold drinks and snacks for sale throughout opening hours.
How long does a party run, and when do we get our pieces?
Painting parties usually take two to three hours and clay-making parties about two hours. The team glazes and fires every piece afterwards, and they are ready to pick up three to four weeks later.
Is the studio suitable for kids, and what should we wear?
The studio is family-friendly and hosts birthday parties for all ages, though wheel-throwing classes are for ages 13 and up. Wear comfortable clothes that can get a little messy; aprons are provided.
