About Violet Cakes
Violet Cakes is a small cake studio in Paddington run by Andressa – Andie to her customers – who trained and worked as a chef before turning to cakes full time. Everything is baked in small batches from scratch, and the name comes from the purple jacaranda trees that line Brisbane's streets each spring. The range covers celebration cakes for birthdays, weddings, engagements and kids' parties, along with cupcakes, personalised vanilla bean sugar cookies, croquembouche towers of cream-filled profiteroles and a layered honeycake inspired by the Eastern European medovik. Designs run from hand-painted buttercream and pressed edible flowers to fresh berries, macarons and themed toppers. There are two ways to order. Ready-designed cakes and treats can be chosen from the online shop, with sizes, flavours and small extras such as name tags, candles or a written message. For anything bespoke, the custom order form asks for the occasion, the number of guests, the date and any inspiration pictures, and Andie designs the cake around that brief. Orders need at least four days' notice. Cakes can be collected from the Paddington studio on weekday afternoons or Saturday mornings, or delivered anywhere in the Brisbane area for a flat fee. How much notice does Violet Cakes need for an order?
Every cake, cupcake and cookie order is made to order, so the studio asks for at least four days' notice before the date you need it.
Does Violet Cakes deliver to my party?
Yes. Delivery anywhere in the Brisbane area is a flat $40, or you can collect from the Paddington studio on weekdays between 3pm and 5pm or Saturdays between 8am and 10am.
How much does a custom cake cost?
Custom designs start from $165. Shop cakes are cheaper – a small six-inch honeycake serving six to ten people is $60, and larger designs are priced by size.
Can I order cupcakes or cookies for a baby shower or party favours?
Yes. Mini cupcakes come in a minimum order of 24 at $2.80 each, and personalised vanilla bean sugar cookies have a minimum of 15 at $5.50 each, individually wrapped.
Does Violet Cakes make wedding cakes?
Yes – weddings and engagements are among the occasions the studio bakes for, alongside croquembouche towers, and the custom form lets you share guest numbers and design ideas.
