About Cookabarra Restaurant and Function Centre
Cookabarra Restaurant and Function Centre sits on Marsh Road at Bobs Farm in Port Stephens, on 48 acres that also hold the family's own barramundi farm and hydroponic vegetable gardens. By day it runs as a lunch restaurant and farm tour stop; in the evenings it opens only for booked private functions. The main function room is a large indoor space with air conditioning and tall glass bi-fold doors looking out over the farm. It seats more than 200 guests, or takes 300-plus for a cocktail party. A wide covered veranda runs alongside it, ringed by a pond planted with water lilies and home to barramundi and koi. The layout suits most kinds of gathering. Smaller groups can use part of the room or the veranda, while larger events open the room onto the veranda through concertina doors, adding seating for about 100 more. Weddings can seat up to 260 this way, with ceremonies held on the veranda beside the pond. The kitchen cooks modern Australian and Mediterranean food built around barramundi raised on site and produce from the farm's own gardens. Function menus range from roving canapés such as oysters, sliders, bocconcini bites and spinach and cheese triangles to plated sit-down dinners, and gluten-free and vegetarian choices are available. There is room for a band or DJ, and the venue has a projector and sound system for presentations and speeches. Corporate groups get space for presentations and breakout sessions, and the team can help organise coach pick-ups so guests get home safely. For weddings, a coordinator helps plan the day and can arrange styling, flowers, music, transport, a photo booth or even fireworks. Send an enquiry to talk through dates, menus and numbers.

Frequently asked questions
How many guests can Cookabarra hold for a function?
The indoor function room seats more than 200 people and takes over 300 for a cocktail-style event. For weddings, about 160 can be seated inside with another 100 on the covered veranda, so up to 260 in all.
Can we book the venue for an evening party?
Yes. The restaurant trades for lunch only and opens in the evening just for pre-arranged private functions, so an evening booking gives your group the centre to itself. Send an enquiry with your preferred date.
What food is served at functions?
Menus feature barramundi raised on the farm alongside other modern Australian and Mediterranean dishes. Options range from canapés such as oysters, sliders and arancini to sit-down dinners, and the kitchen can provide gluten-free and vegetarian choices.
Is there space for live music and presentations?
There is room for a band, and parties often have live music out on the veranda. A projector and sound system are available, and corporate groups can use separate areas for presentations and breakout sessions.
Can guests be transported to and from the venue?
The team can arrange a coach to pick guests up and take them home after the function. The site is also accessible for guests using wheelchairs or walkers.
