About Decibels Entertainment
Decibels Entertainment is the business of Brent Officen, a full-time DJ and master of ceremonies working out of Mitchelton on Brisbane's northside. He has spent more than 30 years entertaining at parties, studied radio and TV presenting, and counts over 2,200 weddings in his career. A party booking covers a professional DJ, a PA system matched to the size of the room and sound-activated LED lighting overhead. Clients get access to an online portal where they can work through a library of around 250,000 songs, choose what they want played and list anything to avoid. Brent will visit the site beforehand if needed, and travel and set-up are included. Weddings are the main focus. As a trained MC, Brent works with the venue, photographer and other suppliers so each formal moment lands on time, then shifts to the dance floor once the speeches are done. He also sings and plays guitar, so a live acoustic set can be added for the ceremony or the early part of the evening. For corporate events such as end-of-year parties, presentation nights, conferences and gala dinners, Decibels can put together sound and lighting, project a logo onto the dance floor or walls, run karaoke on a big screen and host the night. Can Brent be our wedding MC as well as the DJ?
Yes. Brent is a trained master of ceremonies and often handles both roles, liaising with your venue, photographer and videographer so the entrance, speeches, cake cutting and other key moments run to time.
How do we choose the music?
You get a login to the online planning system, where you can search the song library, build a list of tracks you want, mark anything that should not be played and record the details of your event for the DJ.
Is live music available?
Brent also performs as a guitarist and vocalist, which suits a wedding ceremony, pre-dinner drinks or a corporate function where you want something gentler before the DJ set begins.
What extras can be added for a corporate event?
Options include karaoke on a big screen, moving-head and laser lighting with smoke effects, logo projection onto the floor or walls, pin-spotting, themed LED lighting and an MC to run presentations and formalities.
