About MANIAX Newstead
MANIAX Newstead runs coached axe throwing from a warehouse-style venue on Doggett Street. Each visit starts with a safety briefing and a lesson from a coach, then the group moves on to scoring games and a mini tournament. Packages run for one or two hours, and staff stay with every lane to help with technique. With 5 group lanes plus 4 single lanes, the venue has room for up to 90 throwers. It sells hens and bucks packages, birthday group sessions, weekday team building challenges and work Christmas parties, and bigger groups can hire the whole space. Group packages are priced for at least 7 people, though a smaller crew can book one by paying for 7, and groups of 13 or more on the hens and bucks package get a dedicated host. After the throwing, the kitchen serves pizzas, giant beef ribs and fried chicken, and the bar pours local beers, ciders, cocktails and MANIAX mead. Drinks, pizza and feast packages can be added to a group booking, and a birthday cake can be brought in. Throwers must be 11 or older, closed-toe shoes are a must, and the venue is wheelchair accessible.

Viking Hour, the standard one-hour session, is $58 per person, and the hens and bucks package is $62 per person. Two-hour hosted group sessions for 7 or more start at $68 per person, and packages with drinks or food cost more.
How many people can the venue hold?

Is food and alcohol available?
Yes. The kitchen serves pizza, beef ribs and fried chicken, and the licensed bar has local beers, ciders, cocktails and mead. Limited drinking is allowed while throwing here, but BYO food and drink is not, other than water and a birthday cake.
Who can throw, and what should we wear?
Everyone throwing must be 11 or older, and under 18s need a parent-signed waiver and an adult with them. Wear closed-toe shoes, and light, loose clothing is a good idea in summer. Younger children can come along to watch.
Is there parking at the venue?
There is no parking on site and the surrounding streets are metered, so allow extra time and aim to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early. Bus stops on Wickham and Ann Streets and the Fortitude Valley and Bowen Hills stations are the nearest public transport.
