About Story Bridge Adventure Climb
Story Bridge Adventure Climb takes groups up the heritage-listed Story Bridge, starting from its base at Howard Smith Wharves. The guided climb lasts about 90 minutes and reaches the summit, 80 metres above the Brisbane River. Climb leaders keep everyone safe in harnesses and share the history of the bridge on the way up. From the top the view takes in the city skyline, the river and out across Moreton Bay. Climbs run at dawn, during the day, at twilight and at night, every day and in any weather. There is also an accessible climb designed for wheelchair users. Private climbs are for groups of 10 or more and cost a fixed price for the group. Each group takes up to 14 climbers, and bigger parties set off in groups 15 minutes apart. The venue runs packages for birthdays, hens and bucks parties, proposals, Christmas parties and corporate team days. Options include a toast at the summit with a Felons lager or Veuve Clicquot, climb leaders taking group photos, and the Lean Out and Walk the Plank challenges for teams. After the climb, Howard Smith Wharves sits right below the bridge, and the team can help connect groups with restaurants such as Felons Brewing Co. for pizzas. How many people do we need for a private climb?
Private climbs need at least 10 people, and each private group holds up to 14 climbers. Larger parties are split into several groups that leave 15 minutes apart, so everyone climbs on the same day.
How much does a private group climb cost?
Private group climbs are charged at a fixed price for the group rather than per head. The price depends on the climb and any extras, so send an enquiry with your date and numbers for a quote.
Is there a minimum age or any other requirement?
The minimum age is 6, climbers need to stand taller than 1.1 metres, and the safety gear fits people under 130 kg. Adults are breathalysed before climbing, and pregnant guests can take part up to 20 weeks at their own risk.
Can we have a drink at the top?
Yes, the Toast at the Top package adds a Felons Brewing Co. lager or a glass of Veuve Clicquot at the summit, plus a climb cap and certificate. It is open to adults 18 and over only.
Where do we go after the climb for food?
Howard Smith Wharves is directly under the bridge, with restaurants and bars along the river. The climb team can help put your group in touch with a venue such as Felons Brewing Co., though meals are booked and paid for with the restaurant directly.
