About Hopewood House
Hopewood House is a privately owned heritage estate on Centennial Road in Bowral, in the Southern Highlands. The nineteenth-century residence has for many years been the family home of the painter Tim Storrier and Janet Storrier, and their creative life still shapes the property. Rather than running as a busy event venue, the estate takes on only a limited number of weddings each year. Each couple is given the property to themselves for the length of their celebration, with no other event on the grounds and no shared spaces. The gardens cover roughly eleven acres and were largely shaped in the early twentieth century by Lebbeus Hordern. Pieces from the Storriers' sculpture collection appear along the paths, beside a pond and at the edges of the lawns, so the grounds read as one composed landscape. Ceremony and celebration settings include the Wedding Lawn and Aviary, the Outdoor Fireplace, the Hops Walk, the Hedge Maze and Parterre Gardens, and the Folly. The Pavilion and the guest cottages come with the exclusive tenure, and the gardens are suited to groups from intimate gatherings up to around 150 guests. The estate manager is the single point of contact from the first enquiry to the wedding day, and site inspections are arranged by private appointment. A wedding compendium sets out the ceremony locations and inclusions, so send an enquiry to request it and to check dates.
