About The Rectory
The Rectory is a colonial-era sandstone house on Sturgeon Street in Raymond Terrace, restored as a tea house and function centre. It sits in broad gardens shaded by towering Norfolk pines, one of which is strung with lights every December. During the day it runs as a café, and the same rooms and grounds are booked for private gatherings. Guests can spread across the lawns, settle on the sandstone deck or use the smaller rooms inside, including a lounge with an open fireplace and a room known as the Snug. The venue names weddings, birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, kitchen teas and hens days among the events it hosts. For a pared-back wedding, the couple can get ready in the house, take photos in the grounds and sit down to a meal afterwards. The function menu runs from canapés such as bruschetta, antipasto skewers, quiches and slider burgers to a lunch list of salads and pastas, finished with pavlova, tarts and cheesecake. Gluten-free and dairy-free choices are marked, and the kitchen can cater for other dietary needs. Groups after something simpler can order self-serve platters of sandwiches, cheeses, hot savouries, fruit or sweets, each sized for about ten people. High tea, a champagne breakfast and a high coffee are other options, and the kitchen is licensed with bar facilities for drinks. Meeting rooms with a data projector and whiteboard are available for business groups. To plan an event, send an enquiry with your date and numbers, as larger bookings are arranged in advance.
