About Kangaroo Segway Tours
Kangaroo Segway Tours runs guided Segway rides around the Brisbane riverfront, setting off from the Riverlife Adventure Centre at Kangaroo Point. Each tour lasts two hours, and the first half hour is a training session so nobody needs to have ridden a Segway before. The route follows the river past South Bank and its parklands, through the cultural precinct and the City Botanic Gardens, and back by the Kangaroo Point Cliffs. Guides share stories about the city along the way and pull up at checkpoints for photos, including the big Brisbane sign. There are four Brisbane departures a day. The 9am ride suits early starters, the 12:30pm and 3pm rides catch the afternoon light, and the 6pm ride shows the skyline after dark. Riders use i2 Segways, which balance themselves, and helmets are supplied. The minimum age is 12, the weight range is 45 to 120 kg, and riders aged under 18 bring a waiver their parent or guardian has signed. Tours go ahead in light rain, and severe weather means a reschedule or refund. Alcohol is not allowed before or during a ride. How long is a tour and what does it cover?
Every Brisbane tour runs for two hours. The first 30 minutes is Segway training with your guide, then the group rides the river paths past South Bank, the City Botanic Gardens and the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, stopping for photos along the way.
Do we need to have ridden a Segway before?
No experience is needed. The i2 Segway does the balancing for you, and the guide runs a half-hour training session at the start so everyone is comfortable before the group sets off.
Are there age or weight limits?
The minimum age is 12 and riders should weigh from 45 to 120 kg. Anyone younger than 18 needs a waiver signed by their parent or guardian, and the tour is not suitable for pregnant guests or anyone who cannot step on and off the Segway unaided.
Can we book a private tour for our group or work team?
Yes. With some notice the team can arrange group bookings, corporate outings and private tours, including a custom route for larger groups. Send an enquiry with your date and group size to get pricing.
What should we wear, and what happens if it rains?
Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes, as thongs, sandals and heels are not allowed, and bring a hat and sunscreen. Rides run in light rain, and severe weather means the tour is rescheduled or refunded.
