About Patina at Customs House
Patina is the restaurant inside Customs House, the heritage-listed building on Queen Street that belongs to the University of Queensland. Its Champagne High Tea is set up for birthdays, baby showers and relaxed get-togethers with family and friends. Each guest gets a glass of Taittinger Champagne with savoury canapés and ribbon sandwiches, buttermilk scones served with jam and mascarpone chantilly, and an assortment of petite desserts and macarons. Espresso coffee and a selection of French teas round it out. Tables on the terrace look out over the Brisbane River towards the Story Bridge. Sittings last about 90 minutes. On Tuesdays the high tea starts at 3pm, and from Wednesday to Sunday there are morning sittings around 10:30am or 11am and afternoon sittings around 2:45pm or 3pm. Bookings need 24 hours' notice and are paid in full upfront. The kitchen can adjust the menu for gluten-free and vegetarian guests only, and those needs have to be noted when the booking is made. High tea bookings cannot be refunded, changed or swapped, so lock in numbers before booking. For bigger occasions, Customs House also has private function rooms with banquet menus, and an events team that helps from the first enquiry through to the day itself. What is included in the Champagne High Tea?
Each guest receives a glass of Taittinger Champagne, savoury canapés and ribbon sandwiches, buttermilk scones with jam and mascarpone chantilly, and petite handmade desserts and macarons, plus espresso coffee or a French tea of their choice.
How much does it cost?
The Champagne High Tea is $92 per person, which covers the full menu and one glass of Taittinger. Payment for the whole booking is taken at the time of booking.
When can we book and how long does it run?
Tuesday has a 3pm start. Wednesday to Sunday offers a morning start around 10:30am or 11am and an afternoon start around 2:45pm or 3pm. Each sitting runs for roughly an hour and a half, and bookings need at least 24 hours' notice.
Can the menu cater for dietary needs?
Only gluten-free and vegetarian versions of the high tea are available. Let the venue know about them when the booking is made, as other dietary requests cannot be accommodated for this menu.
Can we change or cancel a high tea booking?
No. Once paid, a high tea booking cannot be refunded, altered or exchanged, so confirm your guest list before booking. Note that Patina is closed on public holidays, over Easter and between Christmas and New Year.
