Good entertainment decides how a Brisbane party feels long after the plates are cleared. The choice usually starts with the crowd: a work function wants something guests can drift in and out of, a wedding needs music that carries from the ceremony to the last song, and a kids' birthday needs someone who can hold a queue of six-year-olds.
Matching the act to the event:
Many of these suppliers cover the inner and middle suburbs, and several also reach Logan, Redlands, Moreton Bay and Ipswich & Springfield, so confirm your area before you settle on an act. Browse by type with DJs, bands or kids entertainers.

As soon as the date is set, ideally by mid-year. Late November and December weekends are when work parties, formals and weddings overlap, and in-demand DJs and bands go first.
Many will, provided there is shade and a covered fallback. Ask what happens to the set if a storm rolls in, since amplifiers and decks have to stay dry.
Several cover all eleven Brisbane areas. Others stick to the inner and middle suburbs, so check each profile's areas served before you enquire.
String quartets and trios on this page start from $1,600. The final figure depends on hours, line-up and whether you want music at both the ceremony and the reception.
Combine something for the children, such as face painting or balloon twisting, with a DJ or acoustic music for the adults. An hour of activity for the kids gives everyone else room to relax.
Croupiers run each table and explain the games, and everyone plays with chips that have no cash value. Some hosts add small prizes for the top chip counts at the end of the night.
