About Vanilla Zulu

Vanilla Zulu is a cooking school on Commercial Road in Teneriffe, built around a 208 sqm open kitchen with a courtyard just outside. Accredited chefs lead every class, and guests work in small teams at their own stations before sitting down to the meal they have prepared. Private bookings suit groups of 10 to 70. Workplaces use the space for team building, client thank-yous and end-of-year celebrations, choosing a two or three hour package. Groups who like a bit of rivalry can opt for a MasterChef-style cook-off, a mystery box of ingredients, a Nailed It round or an Amazing Race challenge. Others keep it social with an interactive dinner party instead. Birthdays, hens parties, Christmas parties and sports club celebrations are all hosted, and the team can adjust menus around dietary needs. The public class list takes in Thai, rustic Italian, express pasta and pizza, dumplings, Spanish tapas and paella, Mexican, Japanese, French, Mediterranean and a desserts and pastries session. Recipes are shared digitally so guests can cook the dishes again at home. Gin cocktails, beer, wine, cider and soft drinks are poured at the licensed bar, which opens 30 minutes before classes begin. Frequently asked questions

How many people can come to a private group event?

Private events run for groups of 10 up to 70 guests. Teams cook at stations of four or five people, so the format works for a small executive team or a whole company.

What does a class cost?

Public classes start from $97 for an adult, and bookings of four or more drop to a group rate, from $90 each on the express pasta class. Private and corporate packages are priced to suit the group, so send an enquiry for a quote.

Are drinks available during the class?

Yes. Drinks come from the venue's own licensed bar, which pours gin cocktails, beer, wine, cider and soft drinks and opens half an hour before each class so guests can settle in first.

What should guests wear?

Comfortable clothes and sturdy closed-toe shoes are recommended. High heels and stilettos are not practical on the kitchen floor, and each guest has a stool to sit on during the class.

Is there parking at the venue?

There is no on-site parking, so guests park in the streets around Commercial Road. Arriving 15 to 20 minutes early leaves time to find a spot and wash hands before cooking starts.
