About Vision Walks Eco Tours
Vision Walks Eco Tours is a locally owned ecotourism company with a booking office in Byron Bay. Founder Wendy Bithell and her guides come from environmental science backgrounds, and Arakwal Bundjalung woman Delta Kay leads the cultural walks. Tours stay small and focus on animals living freely in their own habitat. The range covers a full-day wildlife safari through three habitats, a platypus walk, a koala tour and a bird watching outing with a local ecologist. The signature outing is the Night Vision Walk, where guests wear special goggles in the rainforest after dark and watch possums, pademelons, bandicoots and frogs without bright lights. The two-hour Bush Tucker Walk teaches which native plants can be eaten and ends with bush tea. For groups, the team arranges private tours for 2 to 50 people, combining wildlife outings, walks and hinterland sightseeing. Guests travel in an eight-seat hybrid or a 12-seat bus, with bigger vehicles sourced when needed. Corporate groups are among those the operator names, and most tours include pick-ups from accommodation in the Byron and Ballina shires. Send an enquiry to plan a private group tour.

Frequently asked questions
How big a group can book a private tour?
Private tours run for groups of 2 to 50 people. Smaller groups travel in an eight-seat hybrid and larger ones in a 12-seat bus, with bigger vehicles arranged when the group needs them.
How much do the tours cost?
The Bush Tucker Walk is $69 per person, the Night Vision Walk is $189, the Beyond Byron hinterland tour is $220 and the bird watching tour is $300 per person. Standard tours can also be booked at a private rate.
Are children allowed on the tours?
Several wildlife and sightseeing tours suit children aged five and over. The night vision rainforest walk and the guided Minyon Falls hike are listed for ages 10 and up. Child and booster seats can be requested in advance.
Are wildlife sightings guaranteed?
Koala sightings are guaranteed on the Koala Tour. Platypus are not guaranteed, but guests who miss out can rejoin the walk on another day at no charge. Night walk sightings depend on the animals.
What should we wear and bring?
Covered walking shoes, a hat, a jacket if the weather looks unsettled and a reusable water bottle. Dark or neutral clothing is suggested on wildlife tours so the group draws less attention.
