About Hellyeah Entertainment
Hellyeah Entertainment is the business of DJ Todd James, a wedding and event DJ based in Ballina who plays celebrations around Byron Bay and Lennox Head. Todd has been behind the decks for more than 20 years, starting out mixing vinyl and going on to play clubs and bars, including The Beach Hotel in Byron Bay. His style is to read the room rather than run a fixed playlist. Couples and hosts are asked for a list of much-loved songs or artists, which becomes the backbone of the night, and Todd fills in around it as the mood changes. Anyone who would rather not choose can hand the whole music plan over to him. Cocktail hour and dinner lean towards chilled beats, soul, funk and acoustic tracks. The party set then moves through classics from the 60s onwards, rock, pop, disco, R&B, hip hop, dance and house. For weddings there are two packages. The VIP option starts at cocktail hour and runs for around five to eight hours, while the Let's Party option picks up after formalities for three to four hours. Both can be extended and include a consultation plus a face-to-face meeting before the day. Todd has played birthdays, house parties, school functions and corporate events as well as weddings, at venues from Fig Tree Restaurant to Lennox Head Community Centre. What equipment does Todd bring?
Each DJ package comes with Pioneer DJ equipment, a JBL sound system suited to around 150 guests and professional DJ lighting, including the Gig Bar 2 light bar.
How long are the wedding packages?
The VIP package begins at cocktail hour and covers roughly five to eight hours. The Let's Party package starts after formalities and covers three to four hours. Either one can be extended.
Can we choose the music?
Yes. Todd asks for a list of much-loved songs or artists to build the set around, plus any special cues for the day. You can also leave all music choices to him.
When does setup happen?
Delivery, setup and pack-up are handled on the day of the event. If gear needs to be in place more than 1.5 hours before the celebration starts, standby rates apply.
Can we hire the sound gear without a DJ?
Yes. A self-run party package with a Pioneer mixer, two JBL 15-inch speakers, an 18-inch subwoofer and a lighting bar suits up to 150 guests outdoors, and is delivered and set up for you.
