About Byron Bay DJs
Byron Bay DJs is a mobile DJ business run from Rosebank in the hinterland, also trading as Nightcrawlers DJs. Proprietor Gary Martyn has run it locally since 2001, and the team includes club, festival and wedding DJs. Every DJ on the books has at least five years of mobile work behind them, and several have well over a decade. You can hand over a full playlist, pick a few must-play songs or leave the music to the DJ, who matches the set to the age and style of the crowd. The gear comes in four packages. The smallest suits a house, restaurant or small function room with 20 to 30 guests, while the larger rigs add bass bins, lasers, smoke machines and extra lighting effects for halls, big homes and outdoor events of up to 800 people. Back-up systems come along in case anything fails. Weddings are a big part of the work, with the DJ also acting as compere for the reception, making dedications and announcements and taking requests from guests. The business also plays 18th and 21st birthdays, milestone birthdays, engagements, anniversaries, school formals, staff Christmas parties and corporate functions from small office parties to large events. If you would like a live musician for the ceremony, Gary can arrange one through his network of local performers. Frequently asked questions
What do the Byron Bay DJs packages include?
Each of the four packages pairs a professional DJ for four hours with a Pioneer XDJ-RX3 controller, powered speakers on stands, at least one microphone and lighting. The bigger packages add bass bins, lasers, smoke machines and more lighting effects.
Which package suits my guest numbers?
The MD1 package is sized for 20 to 30 people, MD2 for 50 to 120, MD3 for 120 to 300 and MD4 for 300 to 800. The larger rigs suit big function rooms, halls and outdoor events.
Can we choose the music and take requests?
Yes. You can pick a handful of songs, supply a full playlist or leave it to the DJ, who is happy to take requests from guests on the night as well as handle song dedications and announcements.
Can the DJ play for longer than four hours?
Yes. Extra time is charged by the half-hour or hour – from $75 a half-hour on the MD1 package up to $100 a half-hour on MD3 and MD4. Standard rates do not apply on Good Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or 31 December.
Can Byron Bay DJs also arrange ceremony music?
Yes. If you want a live musician or performer for the wedding ceremony, the owner can organise one through his network of trusted local musicians, alongside the DJ for the reception.
