About Fiona King Celebrant
Fiona King is an authorised marriage celebrant who lives in Robertson and has conducted roughly 1,000 weddings. She came to celebrancy from a career in theatre and design, and that background shows in how she runs a ceremony: relaxed and personable with the couple, but well rehearsed and always on time. Every booking starts with a conversation about the feel you want, then Fiona sends material and questions to draw out your story. She writes a first draft for you to edit, walks everyone through it at a rehearsal and looks after the legal paperwork before and after the day, including registering the marriage. Couples choose from several styles. There are formal white weddings and harp weddings for larger guest lists, micro weddings for 30 to 50 people, and budget weddings or elopements for up to 30 guests. The budget option is a simple legal ceremony – Fiona arrives with a microphone, speaker and the certificates, and extras such as a signing table or harp can be added. Fiona plays a small Celtic harp and can perform as guests arrive, for the bride's entrance and at the close of the ceremony. She also offers handfasting with single or multi-cord techniques, ring warming and other Celtic rituals, and is a supportive choice for same-sex couples. Fiona offers a musical traditional wedding with harp and a traditional white wedding for 80 to 300 guests, micro weddings for 30 to 50 guests, and budget weddings or elopements for 5 to 30 people.
Can Fiona play the harp at our ceremony?
Yes. Fiona plays a portable Celtic harp and can perform while guests arrive, for the bridal entrance and as the ceremony ends. It is an optional extra, and her sound system also takes music from a phone.
What is included in a budget wedding with Fiona?
The budget package covers the Notice of Intended Marriage, a simple legal ceremony for up to 30 guests at an agreed location, a microphone and Bluetooth speaker, the wedding certificate and same-day registration. Travel fees may apply.
Does Fiona King perform handfasting ceremonies?
She does. Fiona knows several single and multi-cord handfasting methods, including a knot the couple tie themselves, and can add other Celtic rituals such as ring warming or a quaich toast.
How does Fiona prepare the ceremony with us?
After a first meeting, which can be held by video call, you sign the Notice of Intended Marriage. Fiona then sends questions, writes a draft for your edits and holds a rehearsal before the day.
