About Sand Dune Adventures
Sand Dune Adventures belongs to the Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council, which runs the business itself. Its guides take riders on 400cc quad bikes from the bushland behind the coast out onto the vast Worimi dunes at Stockton Beach. The one-hour adventure tour is all about the ride itself. The one-and-a-half-hour culture tour goes further, adding a sandboarding run down one of the tallest dunes, a look at ancient middens and a chance to handle traditional natural resources and artefacts while guides share the history of the area. No riding background is needed. Every rider is fitted with a helmet, walked through the controls and shown how to ride before setting off, and the tour runs single file with a lead guide and a tail guide, plus a third guide when the group is larger than ten. For celebrations and team outings, the operators arrange private, chartered, corporate and group tours on request at no extra cost. That covers birthdays, hens and bucks parties, team building, staff reward days and social or sporting club trips. Riders who are nervous can practise on a smaller training track first, and a guide can double a rider or offer a 4WD tour instead, subject to staff and vehicle availability.

Frequently asked questions
Can we book a private tour for our group?
Yes. Private, chartered, corporate and group tours are available on request at no extra cost, including birthdays, hens and bucks parties, team building and sporting groups. Chartered culture tours need at least 10 riders, so send an enquiry with your date and numbers.
How old do riders need to be?
Riders must be 16 or older to operate a quad bike, and 16 and 17 year olds need written parental consent and may be asked for ID. Children of at least 130cm can ride as a passenger with an adult on a double bike.
How much does a tour cost?
The one-hour adventure tour is from $119 for an adult rider, and the one-and-a-half-hour culture tour is from $170. Double-bike options start at $180 for an adult and child, and prices can be higher on weekends and in peak holiday periods.
Do we need riding experience or a licence?
No. A driver's licence is not required, and every rider gets a helmet fitting, a full familiarisation on the bike, a safety briefing and a riding demonstration before the tour heads out onto the sand.
What should we wear, and do tours run in bad weather?
Closed shoes, long pants, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended, as the track passes through bush and the white sand is glary. Tours run in wind and rain, and are only rescheduled or cancelled when conditions become unsafe.
