Behind the bow tie is Chris Charteris, originally from Queensland and now based in Sydney, and he marries couples and then hosts their receptions. He says the Southern Highlands has become a much bigger part of his calendar than he expected, and his own site covers the Highlands venues he has worked at. His style leans on improvisation and humour, and the bow tie can count as your something blue. Venues he has worked include Bendooley Estate at Berrima, with its Book Barn, Stables and lakeside ceremony space, and Mali Brae Farm at Moss Vale, where he suggests leaving an hour for sunset photos with the Highland cows. He has also married couples at Growwild Wildflower Farm at Alpine, whose barn makes a strong wet-weather option, and at Sylvan Glen Estate in Penrose. He rates winter weddings at both Bendooley and Growwild, thanks to fires and sheltered ceremony spaces. The Celebrant and Wedding MC package combines both roles. Before the day you get an initial video or phone call, an in-person meeting over coffee or a pub meal, a script written for you alone and all the legal forms handled.
