About Lazy Paddles

Lazy Paddles is a family-owned kayak tour business in Tea Gardens, run by Darren and Jessica and part of the town since 2002. Tours explore the Myall River, the Myall Lakes National Park and the waters of the Port Stephens marine park. Every guide is trained in paddling and outdoor skills, holds a first aid certificate and has a Working With Children Check. Most trips launch from the riverside reserve at Anzac Park. The two-hour Myall River Discovery tour suits first-timers. It drifts through the mangroves while the guide talks about the river's past and points out wildlife, with a fair chance of dolphins along the way. The four-hour Myall Lakes Escape heads into the national park on touring kayaks. Expect birdlife, forest and mountain views on one of the country's largest coastal lake systems. For groups, private tours can be arranged on request, and custom paddles are planned for bigger groups, corporate teams, school groups and clubs. Share your numbers and ideas, and the team will shape the route and timing around you. Equipment is included on every tour, and life jackets stay on the whole time on the water. Children under 16 share a double kayak with an adult or older paddler. Send an enquiry to plan a private or group paddle.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Private tours are offered on request, and custom paddles can be planned for larger groups, corporate teams, schools and clubs. Pricing for these is quoted once the group size and plans are known, so send an enquiry with your details.

How much do the scheduled tours cost?

The two-hour Myall River Discovery tour is $75 for adults and $50 for kids under 16, or $200 for a family of two adults and two children. The four-hour Myall Lakes Escape costs $125 for adults and $75 for kids under 16.

Where do the tours start and where do we park?

Darren was an incredible guide, very knowledgeable on the local area. We had a great time, the water was incredibly still, saved some bees and had a lovely morning tea on the creek.
