About Mane Events
Mane Events is a DJ and MC outfit based in Lake Macquarie, set up by owner Sean in 2012 after years of club and venue gigs. He works with Tom, who also DJs and MCs, and DJ Matt, and between them they have played more than 1500 weddings. The business keeps a dedicated Port Stephens wedding page, naming The Anchorage, Whitesands and Little Beach Boathouse as venues where the team plays regularly. A couple married at Little Beach wrote that Matt kept the dance floor full and fitted in every song they asked for. A wedding booking usually spans the day: music as guests arrive, through the ceremony and the signing, then the cocktail hour, the reception entrance and the speeches before the dancing starts. Booked as MC as well, the DJ keeps the formalities on schedule and introduces each part of the night. Couples send a list of songs they want and songs to skip, and sets can move from 1960s classics to today's chart hits, club music, hip hop and lounge. Every package includes professional sound and intelligent lighting rather than simple chasers. Lasers, spotlights, mirror balls, bubble machines and a larger sound system can be added, as can a saxophone player or a photo booth. Wedding DJs wear black trousers and a buttoned shirt, or dress to a theme on request. Quotes come back within 48 hours, a $200 deposit confirms the date, and late finishes are charged at $50 per extra half hour if the DJ is free to stay. Prices are not published, so you send the date, venue and hours for a Port Stephens booking and get a quote back inside 48 hours. Securing the date takes a $200 deposit, and the rest can be settled by bank transfer or cash on the night.
Can the music go past the booked finish time?
When the DJ has no later commitment, extra time is charged at $50 per additional half hour. It is settled with the DJ on the night before the overtime begins.
