About The Parklands Stables
The Parklands Stables is a riding school on a farm at Woodlands in the Southern Highlands. Alongside its weekly lessons, it runs two experiences for groups who want time with horses without signing up for a course. The Equine Encounter suits six to eight guests aged 12 and over. Over about 40 minutes, a coach introduces each guest to a horse, explains its personality and shows how to groom it. Each guest then chooses a lead-line or round-yard activity to share with their horse, and learns the scratching spots horses use to bond with each other. Groups with more time can add a 10-minute ride around a 400 metre track and a picnic high tea on the farm. The high tea needs 48 hours' notice. The stables donates $5 from each booking to Horse Rescue Australia. For workplaces, the corporate experience is shaped around a team's goals, from building trust to handling change or simply unwinding. It opens with a welcome to the horses, moves into ground-based exercises on awareness and communication, and closes with a facilitated debrief and light catering. Riding is optional on corporate days and offered only to teams that ask for it. The horses are professionally schooled, work no more than two lessons a day and rest on Mondays. Facilities include a 60 by 20 metre covered arena with lighting, a round yard, a grass show-jumping ring and a working equitation course. Send an enquiry to book a group date.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can join an Equine Encounter?
The Equine Encounter is booked for groups of six to eight guests, so everyone gets time with a horse and a coach close by.
Is there a minimum age for the group experience?
Guests need to be 12 or older for the Equine Encounter. Younger children are catered for through the stables' separate lesson programs instead.
Do we have to ride a horse?
No. The encounter and the corporate day are built around groundwork. A 10-minute track ride can be added to the encounter, and corporate teams can request a mounted component.
Is food included?
Corporate days include light catering. Equine Encounter groups can add a 60-minute picnic high tea on the farm, which needs 48 hours' notice.
What happens on a corporate team day?
Facilitators tailor the day to the team's goals. It runs from an introduction to the horses through ground-based exercises on connection and communication to a team debrief.

Superb coaching, Julia is a gem. Her teaching of correct seat, balance and connection with a horse is amazing. Parklands Stables prioritises safety and horse welfare and is a wonderful horse community to be part of.
