Most Peninsula celebrations end with guests needing a bed nearby. Winery weddings, milestone birthdays and long lunches rarely finish anywhere near a train line, and the drive back to Melbourne late at night is not one anyone should be making after a few drinks.
The stays listed here range from small boutique hotels, B&Bs and beachside motels to self-contained apartments, vineyard villas and big homesteads let to one group. They're for sleeping, getting ready and recovering – not for hosting the event itself, and several properties say outright that parties aren't allowed.
How to narrow it down:
Summer, Christmas to late January and the school holidays are when the Peninsula's stays fill and nightly rates climb. Lock in rooms as soon as the date is set, and let guests know early.
Send your dates and group size to a few properties and compare the replies. There's no commission on Party Hero, so the rate you're quoted is the property's own.

As close to the venue as possible. A Red Hill winery wedding suits a stay in the hinterland or a bay town nearby, while a Sorrento or Rye event suits the southern beach towns.
Generally no. Several properties here ban parties outright, and others need written permission, so treat the house as a place to sleep and hold the celebration at a venue.
Among the few that list a price, rooms, apartments and villas start from about $250 to $450 a night, and large whole houses from around $1,600. Summer and holiday dates cost more.
Often, especially on weekends and over summer, when two nights is common. Check before telling guests they can stay just the Saturday.
Some hotels and motels take group bookings for wedding parties. Ask for a held block of rooms and a release date for unbooked ones.
For a summer wedding or a holiday weekend, as soon as the date is confirmed. Off-season dates are easier, but small properties can still fill on a Saturday.
Not always – some boutique hotels don't allow wedding parties to use rooms for preparation. Ask the property directly before you plan the morning around it.
