About George's Boutique Hotel & Culinary Retreat

George's is a five-room boutique hotel at the top of Arthurs Seat, built for couples who want a quiet, well-appointed base on the Mornington Peninsula. Every room is for two adults only, which suits guests travelling in for a wedding or a milestone birthday at one of the nearby wineries. Three suites sit on the upper level, each with a super king bed, a lounge area, a private balcony, a minibar and views out over Port Phillip. Suite 2 is the most generous at 75 square metres, adding a fireplace and a his-and-hers ensuite. Downstairs, Room 4 has a freestanding stone bath and a terrace, while Room 5 faces north towards the vines. Owner and chef George Skaliotis runs Café George on site, cooking breakfasts to order each morning and opening for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights through summer, by booking only. He also hosts two-night culinary retreats with cooking classes, a wine and farm-gate tour and all meals included. The hotel stands next to the upper station of the Eagle Sky Lift, with Red Hill's cellar doors, Dromana and the Peninsula Hot Springs all within easy reach. Parking and wifi are free, self check-in runs from 1.30pm, and the hotel can book transfers for nights out.

Frequently asked questions

How close is George's to the Peninsula's wineries and beaches?

The hotel is at the top of Arthurs Seat, right beside the upper station of the Eagle Sky Lift. Red Hill's wineries and restaurants, the beaches around Dromana and the Peninsula Hot Springs are all close by, and the hotel can book a transfer service from $50 for evenings out.

Can wedding guests or a bridal party stay at George's?

Wedding guests are welcome, and newlyweds can spend their wedding night here. The hotel doesn't take wedding parties looking to use its rooms or facilities to get ready before or after the ceremony, and each room is limited to two adults.

Is parking available?

Yes. Parking is included in the room rate at no charge, along with free wifi.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 1.30pm and check-out is by 10.30am. Self check-in is available around the clock, so a late return from a reception isn't a problem. Early check-in or late check-out can sometimes be arranged ahead for $30 an hour.

Can children or extra guests stay in the rooms?

No. George's is adults-only and every room takes a maximum of two adults, so it suits couples rather than families or groups sharing a room.
