When relatives or a crowd of mates are all heading down for one wedding or milestone weekend, a shared house keeps everyone together. There's room to spread out, a kitchen for the morning after and a deck to sit on while the next day's plans get sorted.
The Peninsula's self-contained stays range from beachside apartments and vineyard villas to homesteads on acreage that sleep a big group. Five are listed so far. These are places to stay for an event held somewhere else – most come with firm house rules, and some refuse parties outright.
What to check before you pay:
Summer and school holidays are when the beach towns book out, sometimes a year ahead for the best houses. If your event falls between Christmas and late January, secure the house first and plan the rest around it.
Put your dates and headcount to several owners in one go and weigh up the answers. There's no booking fee on Party Hero, so the price quoted is set by the property.

No – several properties ban parties, and others need prior permission from management. Keep the house for sleeping and quiet downtime, and book a venue for the celebration.
Where owners publish rates, a smaller apartment or villa usually begins somewhere between $250 and $450 nightly, while a homestead sleeping a crowd begins near $1,600. Expect higher figures over peak summer.
Usually on weekends, and almost always through summer and the school holidays. Check the minimum before planning a one-night stay.
Each property has a set guest limit, which is usually part of the booking terms. Count everyone sleeping there, including children.
Many houses take a security bond, and some charge a separate cleaning fee as well. Ask for the full cost for your dates.
As early as possible – the best beach-town houses can be booked out many months ahead. Midweek and winter stays are much easier.
It varies by property, and many don't take them. Ask before booking if anyone is bringing a dog.
