About Monty King Celebrant
Newcastle local Monty King works as both a Commonwealth-registered celebrant and a wedding MC, and has been running ceremonies since 2015. He has married more than 800 couples, from city venues such as Ravella in Newcastle to vineyards in the Hunter Valley, and he is always keen on a road trip, or a flight, for weddings further away. When a venue is new to him, he gets there half an hour early to walk the space. A Monty ceremony is about the two of you, not a speech about marriage in general. He writes it from your story, covering how you met, where life has taken you and what you are looking forward to, and aims for a balance of real feeling and proper laughs. Every couple who can legally marry is welcome. You can contact him as often as you need in the months beforehand, and he takes care of the legal side, from the Notice of Intended Marriage to the certificate signed on the day and registration afterwards. A professional PA system is part of every booking, so your grandparents in the back row hear every line. Monty also MCs, which lets one person guide the whole day from the ceremony into speeches and the dance floor, with one less supplier to brief. Adding the MC role is up to you, and it can be booked later in the planning, and he will MC a reception even if another celebrant runs your ceremony. Dates from September to May are worth securing 12 to 18 months ahead.

Does Monty King marry couples in Newcastle?
Yes. Monty is based in Newcastle and marries couples at venues around the city, including Ravella, and across Lake Macquarie, as well as in the Hunter Valley and further afield.
What are Monty's fees?
A full ceremony is from $2,200, a ceremony plus reception MC bundle from $3,300, MC only from $1,100 and a legal-only, registry-style ceremony from $660. Any extra cost for complex logistics or travel is raised before you book.
Can Monty MC the reception as well?
Yes. You can add the MC role when you book or later in the lead-up, and couples with a different celebrant for the ceremony can still book him to MC.
How early should we book?
For a wedding between September and May, enquire 12 to 18 months out. Winter dates and weekdays usually need less notice.
What if Monty is unwell on the day?
He has only ever missed one wedding, during Covid, and he keeps a network of local celebrants who can step in if it ever happens again.
