Julie Muir is a Newcastle-based celebrant, born in Ireland, who has married more than 400 couples. Her Newcastle ceremonies include weddings at 48 Watt St, King Edward Park, the Blue Door in Merewether and on Merewether Beach, along with relaxed backyard celebrations in Hamilton. She covers suburbs right across Newcastle and around Lake Macquarie, from Cardiff and Speers Point to Belmont, Redhead and Swansea. Storytelling drives everything she writes. Using questionnaires and conversation she learns how you met, what you adore about each other and what drives you a little mad, then turns it into a ceremony that swings between laughter and emotion. A former career in sports event management keeps her calm and organised on the day. Bi-lingual ceremonies are a specialty: she has Irish, Spanish, French and a little Italian, and she has studied AUSLAN so deaf guests can follow along. A full wedding booking includes vow-writing help for nervous couples, the legal paperwork, ordering of your marriage certificate and a Bose S1 Pro PA so the back row hears every word. She dresses to complement your colours and keeps out of the key photos. With the Newcastle registry office closed, legals-only weddings with two witnesses are a handy local alternative and can be held almost anywhere. Vow renewals look back on years together and the choice to keep going. On top of ceremonies she works as an MC, keeping guests entertained and the formalities on time. Each booking also funds a native tree planting with Carbon Positive Australia, and she can supply eco-confetti sourced locally. She works in the Hunter Valley as well.
