About The Hotel Windsor
The Hotel Windsor has been taking guests on Spring Street since 1883, and its heritage listing shows in the chandeliers, the cantilevered grand staircase and the marble bathrooms. With 180 rooms and suites, it suits out-of-town guests who want a classic city base for a wedding, a milestone birthday dinner or a conference, and it hosts many of those events itself: four ground-floor function rooms take from 10 to 300 people, and the Grand Ballroom under its stained-glass domes seats 180 for a reception with a dance floor. Rooms run from cosy 22 sqm Traditional Rooms with a queen bed, which face inward, up through 33 sqm Superior and 40 sqm Deluxe rooms in king or twin layouts. Families do well in the 41 sqm two-queen rooms, which take a rollaway for a fifth guest at extra cost, and some Superior Rooms interconnect for groups travelling together. The suite range climbs to the Windsor, Victorian and Royal Suites at 80 to 122 sqm. Cribs are available on request, and every room has free wifi, bathrobes and a pillow menu. The location is hard to beat for getting around without a car. Parliament station sits in front of the hotel at the Bourke and Spring Street corner, the free City Circle tram stops outside, and Bourke and Collins Street trams are a minute or three away. The theatre district, Collins Street boutiques, Chinatown and the Treasury, Fitzroy and Carlton Gardens are all a short walk. Guests who drive can use valet parking for $80 a night, and the hotel suggests Skybus to Southern Cross then a tram or taxi from the airport.
