About Hermitage Lodge

Hermitage Lodge is a boutique lodge on 25 acres of McDonalds Road, owned by the local Redman family since 2022 and set around its own Shiraz vineyard and bushland. It doesn't host weddings itself, but it makes a natural base for guests marrying at nearby venues, and the whole property can be booked for exclusive use: 20 rooms plus a five-bedroom house, catering for up to 60 people. Families, birthday groups and work retreats use it the same way. Room options range from Lodge Rooms with a king or split beds and a fold-out sofa for up to four, to the Vineyard Suite with a separate bedroom, fireplace and big balcony, and the two-storey Premier Suite with a full kitchen, two bathrooms and room for four adults. Couples tend to choose the Vineyard Spa Suite and its two-person spa. The Residence is the group option: five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a full kitchen, ducted air conditioning, ten-person dining and its own pool and alfresco area, sleeping up to 10 adults. The lodge sits beside First Creek winery and Watershed Art Gallery, with Pescara, a separately run Italian restaurant, on site; Vinden Estate and Scarborough Wines are a little further, though there are no footpaths. Parking and wifi are free, there's a guest pool, laundry and a lounge with a fireplace, and an in-room continental breakfast can be added.

Frequently asked questions

How many people can stay in The Residence?

The Residence sleeps up to 10 adults in five bedrooms with three bathrooms. It has a full kitchen, dining for ten, ducted air conditioning, and a private pool and alfresco area kept for its guests.

Can our wedding party book the whole lodge?

Yes. Exclusive use covers all 20 rooms and the five-bedroom house, for groups of up to 60. The lodge doesn't hold ceremonies itself, but Pescara can talk about exclusive use of the restaurant, and couples often marry at nearby venues such as John Wallace winery or Palmers Lane and stay here.

Is parking free?

Yes, on-site parking is free, and so is wifi. The Vineyard Spa Suite also has an undercover carport at its entry.

Is breakfast available?

An in-room continental breakfast can be added, with house-made granola, yoghurt with fruit coulis, English muffins, local jam, milk and juice. Tea and coffee are supplied in every room at no charge.

Can we walk to wineries?

Next door are First Creek winery, the Watershed Art Gallery and Pescara. A little further on you can reach Vinden Estate, Scarborough Wines and the Honeytree Estate cellar door of Mount Eyre. There are no walking paths along the road, so take care.
