About Leisure Inn Pokolbin Hill
Leisure Inn Pokolbin Hill is a midscale hotel of stand-alone studios and apartments spread across 25 acres of gardens on McDonalds Road. It works well for event visitors who want their own front door and a kitchen rather than a single hotel room: wedding guests staying a couple of nights, families in town for a birthday, or colleagues on a team trip. The grounds look out over a lake, gardens and vines. There are five room types. Studio Queen and Studio King rooms sleep two and have a kitchenette, corner spa bath and outdoor patio, and the King can be made up as two singles. The One Bedroom Queen Apartment adds a separate living and dining area and a full kitchen. The two-bedroom apartments, in queen and queen or king and queen layouts, sleep up to four, with an ensuite for each bedroom, a full kitchen and a patio, and a sofa bed for one extra guest can be booked ahead. Guests can walk to several wineries, including Brokenwood, McGuigan, Tempus Two and Meerea Park, and Hunter Valley Gardens is close by. Onsite facilities include an outdoor pool, full-size tennis court, golf driving nets, table tennis, a playground, undercover BBQs, a guest laundry, off-street parking and four EV charging ports. Rover Coaches runs services from the hotel to concerts and events, and Maitland is the nearest train station.

Frequently asked questions
What time is check-in, and can I arrive late?
Check-in starts at 2pm. If you'll arrive after reception closes, call the hotel on the day and you'll be given a security code and directions for collecting your key; codes are only issued on the arrival date and once the stay is prepaid. Arriving early or leaving late is possible when rooms allow.
How many people fit in the largest apartment?
The two-bedroom apartments sleep up to four, and each bedroom has its own ensuite. A sofa bed for one more guest can be added to the one- and two-bedroom apartments for $40 a night, but it has to be booked in advance. Studios can't take extra bedding.
Are cots available?
Yes. Cots can be added to a booking for $20 a night.
Is there transport to concerts and wineries?
The hotel doesn't run its own shuttle, but Rover Coaches operates a regular service from the hotel to concerts and events, booked on its website. Independent operators run full- and half-day winery tours, and several cellar doors are within walking distance.
How do I get there without a car?
Maitland is the closest train station, and the hotel estimates a taxi from Maitland at about $90 each way. Car hire is available at the airport, which is roughly 50 minutes' drive from the hotel.
