About The Carriages

The Carriages is a family-owned boutique hotel on a 36-acre estate at the far end of Halls Road in Pokolbin, a turn off Broke Road, with its own small vineyard producing Chardonnay, Shiraz and the occasional rosé. With only ten rooms, it suits wedding guests and bridal parties, couples marking an anniversary, and small groups who'd like the whole place to themselves. The owners also offer the grounds for small weddings, elopements and reunions. The twin-gabled Guesthouse holds eight ensuite rooms. Six open through French doors onto a wide verandah: two Verandah Rooms with queen beds, and four larger Verandah Suites with a lounge and fireplace. Upstairs, two Gable Suites have a king bed plus a single, cathedral ceilings, an open fire, and a private balcony and staircase. A short walk through the she-oaks, Rosebank Cottage has two king suites with spa ensuites, a shared sitting room with an open fire, a full kitchen and a dining area. A continental breakfast basket, with gluten-free options, arrives at your door each morning. Restaurants, a chocolate shop, a café, wineries, weekend markets and wedding and concert venues are within walking distance, and Hunter Valley Gardens is about 2.2 km away. The Vintage and Cypress Lakes golf courses are a few minutes' drive. On site there's a seasonal saltwater pool and a tennis court, and the owner runs private wine and food tours. Cessnock Airport is about five minutes away for charter flights.
