About Entertainment First
Entertainment First is a Melbourne entertainment company run from an office in Sunshine. Founder Aaron Jay started DJing and MCing as a teenager, built up several brands over the years and later folded them into one business. The roster has grown to more than ten DJs, MCs, musicians, booth attendants and AV crew, and the team says it has played over 2,000 events. The core booking is a DJ, often doubling as MC. Each DJ brings a professional PA with subwoofers, a DJ controller, wireless microphones for speeches and LED lighting for the dance floor, plus backup gear on site, so the venue only has to provide a power point. Before the event you go through a playlist consultation covering must-plays, songs to avoid and preferred styles – the DJs cover house, R&B and hip hop, chart pop, disco, Latin, Greek and Italian music, and 80s and 90s classics. For a dedicated host, the MC service includes a planning meeting four to six weeks out to finalise the run sheet and learn names, then on-the-night liaison with the venue, photographer and caterer. Some MCs can host in Greek, Italian or Spanish. The DJ Band option layers one to three live musicians – saxophone, percussion, violin or guitar – over the DJ set, with the musicians plugged into the same PA. Photo booth hire comes with custom print strips, a props collection, unlimited sessions and an attendant for the whole hire, with a digital gallery delivered within 48 hours. There is also a 360 video booth with a two-hour minimum, along with special effects such as cold sparks and dry ice, and AV hire for larger functions.

What does an Entertainment First DJ bring to the event?
The DJ arrives with PA speakers, subwoofers, a DJ controller, wireless microphones and LED dance floor lighting, plus spare equipment. All the venue needs to supply is a power point.
Can we tell the DJ what to play and what to avoid?
Yes. A playlist consultation before the event covers your must-play songs, a do-not-play list and the styles you like, and the DJ uses it as a guide while reading the crowd on the night.
How does the MC service work?
Your MC meets you roughly four to six weeks before the event to go over the run sheet, names and pronunciations, then coordinates with the venue, photographer, videographer and caterer on the day. Combined DJ and MC bookings are also available.
Can live musicians play alongside the DJ?
Yes. Saxophone, percussion, violin and guitar players can perform over the DJ set, with one to three musicians depending on the venue and budget. A single musician needs about one to two square metres beside the DJ.
How much room does the photo booth need?
The standard booth takes about 3m x 3m of floor space plus one to two metres clear in front for guests. Setup runs 45 to 60 minutes and an attendant stays for the whole hire.
