Clear allHunter Valley venues fall into three broad types, and the type decides most of what follows: how many people fit, who cooks, and whether you share the place with other diners.
Winery and estate venues give you the most room. Mount View Estate runs two 400-standing halls and a rooftop terrace for up to 1,000, while Ben Ean's heritage-listed courtyard seats 300. At the smaller end, Iron Gate Estate hires out the whole property for up to 100 from $1,000 minimum spend, and Krinklewood Estate near Broke spreads events of 10 to 250 across lawns, gardens and a pool loggia. Adams Peak Country Estate, The Woodhouse Wollombi and Enzo Weddings take weddings only, each seating up to 150. In Lovedale, Leaves & Fishes hires four spaces across a garden property of lotus ponds and overwater boathouses, from a 12-seat villa to a 120-guest hall, From $660 room hire. Harrigan's Hunter Valley is a Pokolbin pub out among the vines, with a vineyard-view deck for 240 standing and an open-air terrace for 500.
Restaurants suit a seated meal where the food is the point. Amanda's on the Edge has two private dining rooms and a set menu from $135 per person, with a bottle of wine for every two guests. Bistro Molines opens outside its usual trading hours for private functions, serving a two-course French menu from $110 per person. Twine Restaurant's private dining room takes 20 seated, and its barrel room scales up to 150.
Pubs are the relaxed, lower-cost choice, and they sit in the towns rather than among the vines:

Mount View Estate's rooftop terrace takes up to 1,000, and Ben Ean's heritage-listed courtyard holds 300 seated or 450 standing. Chateau Elan's Founders Room fits up to 330 for cocktails.
Town pubs have the lowest starting prices: Commercial Hotel Morpeth from $40 per person, The Family Hotel's canapés from $42 per person and The Royal Muswellbrook's char-grill packages from $50 per person. Krinklewood Estate's woodfired pizza package, also from $50 per person, is the lowest-priced winery option.
Bistro Molines in Mount View opens outside normal trading hours for private functions of up to 90 seated. Boydell's in Morpeth is hired exclusively for lunches and dinners of up to 50.
Instead of paying a room fee, you commit to spending a set amount on food and drink. Iron Gate Estate starts from $1,000 minimum spend, and exclusive use of Boydell's starts from $7,000 minimum spend.
Greystone Estate lists BYO drinks alongside a bar tab and drink packages. Most other venues sell drink packages, so ask each one about bringing your own wine. Among the wedding venues, Adams Peak Country Estate at Broke allows BYO with RSA bar staff, or bar packages from $60 per person, The Woodhouse Wollombi offers a bar tab or drink packages, and Enzo Weddings in Pokolbin runs pay-as-you-go drinks.
Mount View Estate offers its halls and rooftop terrace as dry hire, as well as packaged or bespoke events. Dry hire means you bring in your own caterer and suppliers.
Harrigan's Hunter Valley in Pokolbin runs from a 30-seat private room up to a 500-guest open-air terrace. Club Singleton seats 260 when its auditorium and Function Room are joined, Hunter River Hotel in East Maitland takes 50 to 150 in its upstairs room with a lift to the function level, and the hall at Leaves & Fishes in Lovedale holds 120.
