About Coppersmith Hotel
Coppersmith Hotel is a pub, bistro and small hotel in one, set in a restored mid-1800s building on Clarendon Street in South Melbourne. It suits guests coming into Melbourne for a wedding, a milestone birthday or a work function who want a room with some character rather than a big tower hotel, and somewhere to eat and have a drink without leaving the building. The name honours Ebenezer Thomson, a coppersmith who also served as Mayor of South Melbourne, and copper accents carry through the interiors as a nod to the trade. There are fifteen boutique rooms on the floors above the bar. The booking page takes up to four guests per search, and the hotel's terms let children and infants share a room with their parents at no charge when they use the existing beds and the room's maximum occupancy isn't exceeded. Extra beds or linen, and anyone over 10 beyond a room's limit, are charged at the extra person rate. Downstairs, the bistro and bar open from 3pm Monday to Thursday and from midday Friday to Sunday, and the rooftop terrace looks back across the city. That makes it easy to gather out-of-town family for a drink the night before a wedding, or for a slow lunch the day after. Rooms are booked through the hotel's own secure online checkout or by phone, and guests arriving after hours call a dedicated number to be let in.
