About Soul Clay Studios
Soul Clay Studios is a pottery teaching studio in Gerringong, owned and run by husband and wife Zeynep and Marcus Testoni. It began as Zeynep's hobby in a laundry, moved to classes in her garage in Gerroa, and later settled into a purpose-designed warehouse space in Gerringong. The studio also houses more than 15 resident ceramic artists, whose handmade pieces are fired on site and sold from the studio shop, and visitors are welcome to look around and talk to the makers as they work. For celebrations, the studio takes private bookings for hens parties, birthday parties and corporate groups, and it is also available for location shoots. The regular one-off sessions show what a group session looks like: the Friday Night Clay Date is a two-hour pottery experience where guests bring their own wine and light refreshments are supplied, and Saturday Soul Sessions offer the same two-hour format on Saturday mornings at 9.30am or midday. These sessions are designed for absolute beginners, so nobody needs to have touched clay before. There is also a shorter session for painting and decorating a ready-made pottery piece. Scheduled classes and one-off sessions are for adults aged 18 and over, with school holiday sessions for 8 to 17 year olds run separately from time to time. Anyone who catches the bug can move on to the weekly wheel-throwing course, which runs for two and a half hours each week and covers throwing, trimming, decorating and glazing. Private group bookings are arranged directly with the studio, so get in touch with your date and numbers.

Are the sessions suitable for children?
The scheduled classes and one-off sessions are for adults aged 18 and over. Now and then the studio holds school holiday sessions for 8 to 17 year olds, so ask about those for younger makers.
Can we buy pottery while we are there?
Yes. The studio shop sells one-off handmade functional and decorative ceramics made and fired on site by the resident artists, and stock changes as new work comes out of the kiln.
