Entertainment in Wollongong

Booking the Right Entertainer

A Wollongong party can draw on performers who travel the whole coast, from Helensburgh and Thirroul down through Dapto and Shellharbour to Kiama and Gerringong. The range covers music for a ceremony or a dance floor, roaming acts that give guests something to watch between courses, characters for a child's birthday, and a separate group of 18+ entertainers for hens, bucks and milestone nights.

Start with what the room needs at each stage. A wedding might use Q Strings for the aisle, Mark Dabin Music through canapes and a DJ once the speeches wrap up, while Divine Productions can carry ceremony and reception on one booking, with Anthony Hughes singing early and mixing later. Ultimate DJs and AMPT DJ Australia both work from a must-play and do-not-play list, so have yours ready when you enquire.

What each group of performers brings:

Music: Q Strings plays as a trio, duet or solo violin; Mark Dabin Music layers looped beats and foot percussion under acoustic guitar; Ultimate DJs and AMPT DJ Australia look after the dance floor.
Movement and spectacle: Circus Monoxide sends aerialists, jugglers and stilt walkers, and Ellie Maye Belly Dance performs Egyptian and Turkish styles with veils, fan veils or wings.
Children's birthdays: Fairy Fantasy Parties brings costumed fairies, pirates and superheroes, with face painting, balloons or a kids disco, from $190.
Adults only (18+): LuckyLadds, Cheeky Strippers, Dani's Dolls and Sydney Topless Waitresses supply topless or lingerie waiting staff and short themed shows for hens, bucks and adult birthdays.

Browse the DJs side by side, or plan around the occasion with the hens party guide.

Weddings: strings or acoustic guitar for the ceremony, then a DJ or Divine Productions for the reception
Corporate nights and Christmas parties: roving circus performers or a string trio during drinks, a DJ to finish
Milestone birthdays: belly dance as a feature spot, then a DJ who plays to the ages in the room
Kids' parties: a costumed character running games, with face painting or a disco added on

Entertainment: Frequently Asked Questions

Which Wollongong entertainers suit both a wedding ceremony and the reception?

Q Strings and Mark Dabin Music both cover ceremony music, and Divine Productions handles the whole day: Anthony Hughes sings with guitar during the ceremony, then DJs and runs the microphone at the reception. Ultimate DJs and AMPT DJ Australia take over the dance floor later in the night.

Can circus performers work a Wollongong corporate event?

Yes. Circus Monoxide supplies roving performers who move among guests, a drop zone where people can try circus skills, and team-building workshops, along with aerial, juggling and stilt acts.

What entertainment is there for a child's party around Wollongong?

Fairy Fantasy Parties sends characters such as fairies, mermaids, princesses, superheroes and pirates to lead games, and can add face painting, balloon twisting or a kids disco. Packages start from $190. Circus Monoxide also offers kids shows.

Are the 18+ entertainers on this page right for a family gathering?

No. LuckyLadds, Cheeky Strippers, Dani's Dolls and Sydney Topless Waitresses are for adults-only events such as hens nights, bucks parties and adult birthdays, and every guest should be 18 or over.

Do these entertainers travel to Shellharbour and Kiama?

Nearly all of them list every Wollongong region, including Shellharbour & Lake Illawarra and Kiama & Gerringong. Cheeky Strippers lists Northern Wollongong, Wollongong City & Surrounds and Southern Wollongong & Dapto, so check your address with them.

What details should go in a first enquiry to a Wollongong performer?

Give the date, the venue address, start and finish times, guest numbers and ages, and the moments you want covered. Ask what sound, lighting, power and space the act needs so the venue can be ready.
