About Lake House Clay and Art Studio
Kelly White runs Lake House Clay and Art Studio from a small, light-filled space at 75 Skye Point Road, Coal Point, looking out over Lake Macquarie. She trained as a high school art teacher and studied ceramics at university before opening the studio. During each school term the studio runs weekly hand-building classes, teaching coil, slab and mould techniques, and between them it hosts private workshops for groups. The private workshops are the part that suits celebrations. Clay 'n Sip sessions run on Friday nights and weekends and suit a relaxed catch-up, a birthday or a hens night, with guests making their own pieces by hand. Other private options include kokedama, where each guest makes two moss-ball plants, dried flower wreaths and macrame, and mosaic workshops for up to 16 people on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Kids' parties and school holiday workshops are available too, and parents are welcome to join their children. Work groups and family gatherings book the same way. Every private workshop is arranged by phone, so the format, numbers and timing can be talked through before the day. Private Clay 'n Sip workshops are listed from $149, kokedama workshops from $110 and children's private workshops from $240, so confirm what is included for your group when you call. The studio has its own child safety policy and all staff hold working with children checks. Gift cards are available for anyone who would like to give a workshop.
