About Hotel Jesmond
Hotel Jesmond is a pub hotel on the corner of Newcastle Road and Blue Gum Road in Jesmond, in Newcastle's western suburbs. Alongside its bistro it runs The Jeso sports bar, guest rooms and regular live entertainment. For parties the hotel offers three semi-private areas rather than one closed room. The covered beer garden at the back takes the most people, up to 150 guests seated or standing, with leafy planting, soft lighting and heating in the cooler months. The terrace is a brighter, sunlit area that takes up to 50 people and suits baby showers, birthdays and reunions. The Jeso sports bar fits up to 30 for a relaxed catch-up in front of the big screens. There is no charge to use any of these areas when you book a function, and you are welcome to bring your own decorations. The hotel hosts birthdays, wedding anniversaries, engagement parties, reunions, baby showers and work lunches. Food is handled one of two ways: guests order from the bistro menu, on the day or ahead of time, or you pre-order platters for a grazing-style party. Platters cost between $90 and $120, and each holds at least 30 pieces and feeds up to 12 people. A bar tab can be set up on request and settled when the event finishes. A functions coordinator confirms each booking, and menu choices plus a 50% deposit are due 14 days before the date.

No. Using any of the function areas is free when you make a function booking, and the space can be decorated to suit your theme. No minimum spend is published.
What food can we order for a function?
You can order from the bistro menu on the day or in advance, which works well for sit-down and corporate events, or choose platters for a grazing party. The vegetarian platter is $90, the classic and fruit platters $100, the antipasto $110, and the roast chicken, seafood and grill platters $120. Each platter has at least 30 pieces and serves up to 12 people. Oysters and prawns can be added to the seafood platter for $70.
How do deposits and final numbers work?
Food choices and a 50% deposit are due 14 days before the event, and final numbers 7 days before. The bar tab is paid at the end of the function, and the hotel holds a credit card and driver's licence until then. Cancelling two weeks or more out earns a full refund. Inside two weeks a $150 fee applies, and inside seven days the deposit and food payments are forfeited.
Can under-18s come to a function?
Minors can only be in the areas of the hotel authorised for them, and must stay with a parent or legal guardian at all times. They need to leave the premises by 10pm.
