About The Racecourse Hotel
The Racecourse Hotel is a heritage pub on Minmi Road in Wallsend, built in 1884. The brick building with its iron-lace balcony keeps a traditional public bar feel, with a horseshoe bar at its centre. Functions are held in the beer garden, a large alfresco area out the back. It is also where the pub serves its food, and it has a live music stage and big screens for sport. The pub takes functions from about 10 people up to 150. There is no function fee, so you pay only for the food you order and what your guests drink. The function menu keeps things simple. The barbecue option serves marinated chicken thigh and sausages with coleslaw or salad and bread rolls, and the platters option brings wings, spring rolls, wedges, bruschetta, chipolatas and mini pies. The bar pours the classic beers on tap alongside craft beer and seltzer, and there are wine and cocktail lists. The pub suits a relaxed milestone birthday, and past guests have held 40th and 50th celebrations here.
