About Lighthouse Room @ Dunes by Dish
Dunes by Dish is the restaurant and bar on the upper level of the Soldiers Beach Surf Club building at Norah Head, looking straight over Soldiers Beach. Its larger event space, the Lighthouse Room, is reached by lift. The room measures about 10 by 21 metres, with high ceilings and windows on the beach side. It holds 144 for a cocktail party, 120 at long rows of tables or 100 at rounds, and the booking includes the balcony next door. Each booking runs for five hours, either 11am to 4pm or an evening slot from 5pm or 5.30pm, with an hour beforehand to set up. A venue coordinator, private bar, bar and wait staff, white linen, a microphone and a projector come with the room. Food ranges from a cocktail menu and rolling tapas to plated table service and family-style share platters. Grazing tables can be added on top of a main menu, and dietary needs are worked through with the coordinator. Drinks can be a cash bar, a bar tab or a beverage package. Outside food and drink are not allowed, and the room is non-smoking, including the verandahs. The venue hosts birthdays, engagement parties, baby showers, Christmas parties, corporate dinners and weddings. Send an enquiry to check dates and the room hire and minimum spend for your day.

A minimum spend on catering and pre-paid drinks applies in addition to hire. Cocktail and rolling tapas events start at $2,000 midweek from May to August, while table service and family-style events start at $3,000, rising for weekends and the summer months. Security is charged by the hour for every event in the room.
Food
Family-style menus are $70 per person for two proteins and four sides or $90 for three proteins. Grazing tables are an add-on at $1,250 for up to 60 guests or $2,000 for 60 to 100, and a children's package is $30 per person.

What does the Lighthouse Room cost?
Room hire starts at $850 on Monday to Thursday from May to August and runs up to $1,600 on Sundays from September to April. A minimum spend on food and pre-paid drinks applies on top, from $2,000 for a weekday cocktail event in the cooler months. Security is required for every Lighthouse Room event and is charged by the hour.
What food packages are there?
The cocktail menu is $40 per person for four items and rolling tapas is $48 per person for four. Plated table service runs from $45 per person for a main to $85 for three courses, and family-style share menus are $70 or $90 per person.
How do drinks work?
You can choose a cash bar, a bar tab with a set amount and inclusions, or a beverage package arranged with the coordinator. A tea and coffee station is $2.50 per person.
Is the venue accessible?
Yes. Both function rooms are on the upper level and can be reached by lift, so guests with limited mobility can get up easily.
