About The Metropole Katoomba
The Metropole is a 1930s guesthouse at the junction of Gang Gang Street and Lurline Street in Katoomba, facing the train station. It keeps its Art Deco character, with chandeliers, stained glass and period woodwork, alongside updated rooms and a licensed bar. The hotel hires out three of its shared rooms for private events. The Dining Room takes the most people, up to 50 guests, which suits seated birthday lunches, anniversary dinners, Christmas parties and wakes. The Heritage Library and Lounge is lined with vintage bookshelves and lit through stained glass windows, with a gas fireplace for cooler months. It works for intimate celebrations, afternoon teas, board meetings and book launches. The Games Room is the most relaxed of the three, with space to move around. The hotel suggests it for birthday parties, team-building sessions, art classes and social clubs. The kitchen and bar team can put together food and drinks to suit the group, from refreshments and high tea to full catering, and the bar serves Australian beer, local wine, cocktails and spirits. Room layouts are worked out with each host. Guests travelling in for a reunion or retreat can stay in the hotel's rooms, and parking is free for hotel guests. A lift serves the upper floors.
