About Avalon Restaurant
Avalon Restaurant occupies Rubyston, a Federation-era house set among leafy gardens on Lurline Street in Katoomba. The rooms are filled with vintage art, lamps and curios gathered from travels abroad, so the backdrop does a lot of the decorating for you. Functions centre on the Gallery Room, a bright dining room with a verandah attached. It works for a long table of up to 15, or the whole floor can be set for a full house of around 50. For a standing crowd the restaurant takes up to 60 with canapés, and the garden lawn suits ceremonies, canapé gatherings and long lunches outdoors. Exclusive use gives you the dining room and the cocktail lounge for five hours. The kitchen cooks globally inspired comfort food. Function menus run as a three-course set menu with two choices per course served alternately, or as a canapé spread that opens with a shared baked camembert, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes marked throughout. Drinks can be timed packages of local wines and tap beer, upgraded with Champagne, cocktails or spirits, or charged on consumption. An in-house music system with speakers and a microphone comes at no extra charge. The venue is not suited to children under 12, as much of the décor is fragile. Send an enquiry with your date and guest numbers and the team will come back to you with options.
