About Lilianfels Resort & Spa
Lilianfels Resort & Spa sits on Lilianfels Avenue in Katoomba, high above the Jamison Valley and a few minutes on foot from Echo Point. The house was built as a summer retreat for Sir Frederick Darley and his family, and the estate now wraps two acres of formal gardens around guest rooms, restaurants and a day spa. The main function space is the Banksia Room, a bright, flexible room of about 120 square metres that opens onto a terrace and a sunken courtyard facing the valley. It works for anything from 30 to 120 guests, and it can be split in two when the group is smaller. For weddings, couples usually marry outdoors in the gardens and then move inside for the reception. The estate takes weddings of up to 120 guests, and an on-site coordinator looks after the planning from the first meeting to the day itself. Menus are written for each event by the kitchen team. Options run from canapés and grazing tables to buffets and plated dinners, and wedding couples can also choose a high tea. A sit-down dinner, or cocktails and canapés, can also be held in Darley's, the fine dining room set in the original homestead. On the drinks side there are Champagne, wine packages and signature cocktails, served with white linen, glassware and table settings. Centrepieces, florals, theming and candlelight for evening events can be arranged, and the team can book live music, a photographer or a cake. Guests can stay the night in the rooms and suites on the estate, and there are indoor and outdoor heated pools, tennis courts, bikes and The Lounge with its mahogany bar to fill the rest of the weekend. Frequently asked questions
How many guests can Lilianfels Resort & Spa host?
The Banksia Room, the main function room, suits groups of 30 to 120 guests and can be divided for a smaller event. Weddings are taken for up to 120 guests.
Can we hold the ceremony and reception in the same place?
Yes. The gardens are used for outdoor ceremonies, and the reception then moves into one of the indoor spaces, so the whole day stays on the estate.
What food can be served at a celebration?
The kitchen writes a menu for each event. You can choose canapés, grazing tables, a buffet or a plated dinner, and weddings can also include a high tea. For a sit-down meal in a restaurant setting, Darley's in the original homestead can host the group.
What kinds of celebrations does the estate host?
The events team plans birthdays, anniversaries, engagement parties and baby showers, along with weddings, business meetings and end-of-year gatherings for colleagues and clients. Styling such as florals, centrepieces and candles can be added, along with live music, photography or a cake.
Is there accommodation and parking for guests?
Yes. Rooms and suites on the estate let guests stay over after the event, and there is plenty of on-site parking for wedding guests. For weddings, the team suggests locking in a date about a year ahead.
