About Dancetime Event Hire

Dancetime Event Hire started in 1970 as a family business run out of the garage under the family home, with one small dance floor and a few tables and chairs delivered in the family Holden. It moved into a Caringbah factory in 1980 and is still in the same area, now in a 2,000 square metre warehouse with the third generation involved. Floors remain what they are known for: they hold what they describe as the largest parquetry dance floor stock in Australia, and can lay well over 600 square metres. The floor range runs from oak and teak parquetry finished with silver or gold tapered edge trim, through black, white and coloured modular tiles that mix for a Gatsby or disco look, to a gloss seamless white floor. Custom decals go on top, either cut from mirror foil and metallic vinyl or printed in full colour and contour cut. Outdoors they lay plywood and click-together pro floor, and they will build a floor straight over a backyard pool in plywood or clear perspex so the pool lights still show through. Clearspan marquees from 3m wide upward go over the top, with interchangeable clear or white roofs and walls, and the warehouse also holds furniture, linen, staging, catering equipment, fairy lights and PA gear. Marquees and flooring are installed by their own trained crew. Furniture and catering equipment arrive stacked for you to set out, unless you ask for setup when you book and cover the extra labour. A weekend function is hired Friday to Monday at the standard rate, and there are no minimum quantities except glassware, which goes out in multiples of twelve. They deliver across all Sydney metropolitan areas and country NSW, and anything involving a marquee or a floor over a pool starts with a site inspection.

Pricing

Dancetime does not publish rates, so pricing depends on the date, the size and type of floor or marquee, and what else goes with it. A quote covers the equipment plus a separate transport charge worked out from the location, the day and time, the size of the order and how hard the delivery is. A weekend booking is charged at the standard rate for Friday to Monday, and longer hires are priced on the length of time the equipment is out. Confirming a booking takes a non-refundable deposit of 50 per cent of the hire charge, with the balance due before delivery. Card, EFT and cash at the Caringbah office are all accepted.

Flooring covers outdoor plywood, click-together pro floor, indoor oak and teak parquetry with silver or gold tapered edge trim, black, white and coloured modular tiles, a gloss seamless white floor, marquee floors cut to size, and floors laid over a backyard pool in plywood or clear perspex. Custom floor decals are made as cut-out mirror foil and metallic vinyl, or printed in full colour and contour cut. Marquees are clearspan structures from 3m wide upward with interchangeable clear or white roofs and walls, standard or extra-high legs, internal walls and silk lining, pegged into grass or weighted where pegging is not possible. Also in the range are chairs and tables, picnic tables, linen, catering and bar equipment, modular staging in 1m x 2m panels with legs up to 900mm and non-slip black tops with skirting, plus fairy lights, festoon lights, rice lanterns, mirror balls, smoke machines, PA systems and speakers. Marquees and floors are installed and packed down by the Dancetime crew; furniture and catering gear are dropped in a stack unless you book setup. There are no minimum quantities except glassware, hired in multiples of twelve. Customers can collect everything except marquees and dance floors, and a security bond applies to collections.

Frequently asked questions

Do you set up the dance floor and marquee, or is it a drop-off?

Marquees and flooring are installed by Dancetime's own trained crew. Furniture, linen and catering equipment are delivered in a neat stack for you to set out yourself, but if you want the team to set those up as well, say so when you book so the driver's run allows for it. A labour fee applies and is quoted at the time.

How long do I get the equipment for?

For a weekend function the standard rate covers hire from Friday through to Monday, so there is no extra charge for holding the gear across the weekend. Longer hires are priced on how many days the equipment is out for.

What does it cost?

Dancetime does not publish a price list, because a quote depends on the size and type of floor, the marquee dimensions, the site and what else you need. Ring the Caringbah office on 02 9540 1011, or send through your event date, venue address and rough dimensions and they will price it.

Which parts of Sydney do you deliver to?

All Sydney metropolitan areas, plus country NSW, with Brisbane and surrounds covered from their Queensland base. Transport is charged separately and depends on the address, the day and time, the size of the order and how difficult the access is, so it is confirmed with your quote.

What do I pay up front, and is there a bond?

A deposit of 50 per cent of the total hire charge confirms the booking and is non-refundable, with the balance due before delivery. Card, EFT and cash at the office are all accepted. Customer collections require a security bond sized to the order, and a bond is sometimes asked for on delivery orders too.
