About Coogee Bay Hotel
Coogee Bay Hotel has stood opposite Coogee Beach since 1873, and today it is owned by a family-run hospitality group. Around its central garden are bars, a bistro, a live music room, function spaces and 74 guest rooms split between two very different hotels. That mix suits people coming to Sydney for a wedding or a big birthday in the eastern suburbs, especially if the celebration is being held on site, since the hotel runs its own wedding and event rooms and couples can add guest accommodation to their booking. The Boutique Hotel is the 4-star wing sitting behind the main building, reached by lift, with rooms of 24 to 28 square metres in ocean-view and district-view versions. Many have a private balcony and a bath, and the studios add a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and toaster. For families, the Boutique Interconnecting option joins a king room with kitchenette to a second room with two singles, 55 square metres in all, for two adults and two children. The Bay Rooms occupy the 150-year-old building above the main bar, reached only by stairs, and run from a compact Bay Mini to a Bay Suite looking out to Wedding Cake Island. The Bay Interconnecting suite holds four adults over 44 square metres, though noise from the bar below can carry. Everything is a few steps from the sand and the Coogee to Bondi coastal walk, with cafés and shops in the surrounding village. The hotel puts the CBD and the airport about 20 minutes away, and buses run to the city, the airport and Bondi Junction. Guest parking is limited and costs $30 a night.

How do I get to the city and the airport from the hotel?
The hotel puts both the CBD and Sydney Airport about 20 minutes away. Frequent buses run to the city, the airport and Bondi Junction, and if you're using a taxi or rideshare, enter 9 Vicar Street, Coogee, where reception is.
Can wedding guests stay on site if the wedding is at the hotel?
Yes. The hotel hosts weddings of 40 to 120 guests in rooms overlooking Coogee Beach, and couples can add accommodation in the 4-star boutique hotel for themselves and their guests. The weddings team handles the arrangements.
Is there parking?
There is a limited guest car park that must be booked in advance, at $30 a night per vehicle. It is in the loading dock with its entry from 9 Vicar Street, and the height limit is 1.85m. There are also two fast EV chargers within a few minutes' walk.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Rooms are ready from 2pm and you need to leave by 10am. Reception is at 9 Vicar Street, beneath the Boutique rooms, for both the Boutique and Bay Rooms, and luggage can be left there free of charge.
Which rooms suit a family, and is there lift access?
The Boutique Interconnecting room pairs a king room with kitchenette and a twin room, each with its own bathroom, for two adults and two children. The Bay Interconnecting suite sleeps four adults. All Boutique rooms have lift access, but the Bay Rooms are reached by stairs only, though staff will help with bags.
