The Grace Hotel occupies the building the Grace Brothers put up in the late 1920s as a showcase for their retail business. The heritage-listed exterior is Neo-Gothic, the interiors lean Art Deco, and inside there are 387 rooms. For wedding guests, families coming in for a milestone birthday or colleagues attending a city gala, it offers a central address with room types that cover couples, friends sharing and families with children. Rooms start with the Signature Superior King at 25 to 28 square metres. The Signature Deluxe Twin has two double beds and takes two adults and two children in the existing beds, and the Signature Premium Family Room has a king plus two singles for four guests. Deluxe and Premium Kings fit a third person on a rollaway for an extra charge, the Premium Corner Kings look out over King and York streets and have a bath as well as a shower, and the Junior Suites reach 50 square metres with a coffee machine. Every room has free high-speed wifi, a 50-inch TV, a work desk, a minibar and an in-room safe. Some types can be booked as connecting rooms on request, subject to availability. The hotel sits at the meeting of York, Clarence and King streets. The QVB and the Wynyard light rail stop are about four minutes away on foot, and Wynyard and Town Hall stations about five; the train from the airport to Wynyard takes roughly 23 minutes.
